Good Morning!

I hope you are all doing well! Today’s post is a beauty review post all about EYELASHES!

False eyelashes have really become so mainstream over the past few years. I feel like even when I was in college (ok, this was like 15 years ago! but still) no one ever really wore fake eyelashes unless it was for a real special occasion or you felt like being super extra for your birthday.

Now it seems so commonplace to go and get eyelash extensions or to just glue on fake eyelashes everyday before you leave your house for work, school, or running errands.

There are actually tons of articles on the rise of fake eyelashes and why everyone wears them now and it’s pretty funny to read because it seems that a lot of them blame it on the Kardashians! But what also seems the most plausible is that  social media is so huge and people are constantly putting their faces online for the world to see and just want to look their best, which I think makes total sense for the increase in demand and usage.

If you are anything like me, then you’ve always loved the look of them but could never quite get the technique down for fast application. Plus, who has 15 minutes to spend each morning trying to apply eyelashes??! Probably not most of us!

Additionally, I have terrible eyesight and my contact lenses are so precious to me. I’ve never gone for eyelash extensions because I’m always panicked that I’ll get some crazy eye infection and have to wear my coke-bottle size glasses out in public for an extended period of time. 😱

And also who has that kind of time to go every two weeks for an eyelash fill!? Not me, nor do I want to spend the money! So I’ve been false eyelash free for quite sometime. But as the market has grown, I’ve been ever curious to see what new eyelash products have hit the shelves in hopes that something will be developed that I can easily apply myself and feel comfortable wearing.

And now we enter 2020 and I think I’ve discovered the answer to share with you all: Magnetic Eyelashes!

Now, I know that magnetic eyelashes have been around for a few years, but I think they’ve gotten better and easier to use!

About a year or so ago my friend had been raving about these As Seen On TV Magnetic Eyelashes. I picked them up at Target and although they took me a few tries to get the hang of, I could get them on – which I considered to be a win!

But I found them be incredibly heavy to wear because it’s a double set of lashes that magnetize to each other, with your real eyelashes sandwiched in between. Because they were so heavy and it still took me at least 5 minutes (per eye!) to get each pair securely on, I really only wore them a couple of times and then went back to just regular old mascara.

However, recently I was browsing the aisles of Walgreens when I saw this large section in the makeup aisle devoted solely to fake eyelashes. A few of the magnetic ones caught my eye and looked easy enough to try and were super budget friendly.  So I bought three different ones to try with hopes that my eyelash dilemma would be solved and that I too could get the look that false eyelashes create right at home!

Below are my reviews and thoughts on them all!

(In addition to drugstores and Wal-Mart & Target, all of these lashes can also be found at Amazon and I’ve linked them all below!)

KISS Magnetic Eyeliner and Eyelashes

This kit costs $16.99 and it is frequently on sale in drugstores. I really have zero experience with fake eyelashes – my technique is real rookie, so I was shocked at how easy these these were to apply and I am LOVE!!

I was hoping these would work for me because the included liquid eyeliner works as the adhesive and if there is one makeup skill I have, it’s applying eyeliner! So that application was a breeze – then I waited about a 30 seconds for the liner to get a little tacky and moved on to applying the lashes.

There are 5 magnets on the lashes and they stuck immediately to the eyeliner. The adhesive isn’t so strong that you can’t adjust them though, which is also a positive.

The instructions say to then apply a couple more coats of the eyeliner to secure the lashes down. Initially, I skipped this part because I was just wearing these around my home and I didn’t want to waste any product!

But since I skipped it after maybe 45 minutes I could feel the lashes loosening up in the inner corners of my eye – so I added more eyeliner and adjusted the lashes. Therefore, I would definitely recommend coating more eyeliner on top of the lashes per the directions on the box before wearing these out! After that reapplication I had no more issues with these unsticking and I really liked them!

They sell different lengths of these lashes (for $8.99 without the eyeliner) and some are definitely more dramatic than others. The ones I picked are called Charm and they were super subtle. They are perfect for everyday wear and look very natural. I would recommend these 100%! If you have zero skill with eyelashes but love the look of them, then try these!

KISS Falscara Wisp Eyelashes Kit

Cost:  $18.99

I found this set to be a bit more challenging to apply than the magnetic eyeliner and eyelashes kit. With this set you use a mascara-like product to apply a black adhesive to your natural eyelashes. Then you apply the eyelash wisps one-by-one (the kit comes with 5 wisps per eye) to your lash line underneath your real lashes. Then you apply a coat of sealant to the lashes to reinforce the hold to your natural lash line.

I found the application process to be a little bit harder than to apply magnetic lashes, but it still only took me about five minutes total, which I thought was very reasonable. I did have to go back and add on another coat of the bonding adhesive to a portion of my eyelashes as the lashes were not adhering that well at first. Once I got them all on in the correct position, I simply applied the sealant as a final coat and that’s it!

I think this set would great for anyone who either doesn’t like to wear eyeliner or just wants to apply a few extra eyelashes and not a whole strip for your entire eye. But I think it would take a few tries to get the technique down!

KISS Falscara Review
The Falscara kit includes lashes, adhesive/sealant, and applicator!

Ardell Magnetic Eyeliner & Eyelashes Kit

Cost: $14.99

This set is fairly similar to the KISS magnetic lashes kit. The main difference being that the Ardell magnetic eyeliner comes in a gel pot and you apply it with the included brush. Both sets were easy to apply but I found that I needed more of the eyeliner when applying the Ardell lashes. And since I needed a good amount of the eyeliner for the lashes to adhere, I found this to be a bit messy to apply it to my eyelid. Once I got the lashes in place though, I loved them!

However, the worst part about this set of lashes was the removal process. I went through 5 cotton balls of eye makeup remover PER EYE to try and remove all of the eyeliner/lash glue. This stuff does not want to come off! Which is good for your lashes during the day, but lousy at night!

Top Pick:

Overall, the KISS magnetic set is my favorite and the one that I would recommend you try. I had the least amount of trouble applying the KISS lashes and the adhesive was not difficult to remove at night. The wisps are good if you just want a very subtle effect and do not want to use strip lashes on your whole eye. If you want a strip lash to cover your whole eye then these magnetic ones are a snap. It’s just finding the right length and the amount of drama or nondrama of lashes that suits you best!

Also, all of these lashes are reusable! You simply need to use a Q-tip and some eye makeup remover to get any residue off of the lashes. Then air dry and place back in the original packaging. I’ve since used the KISS magnetic lashes a handful of times and they are still in great shape!

I hope you found this review helpful! Let me know if you have tried any of these lashes and what your normal lash routine is like!

Have a great day,

xo
