Today I am sharing a casual springtime look! Last weekend it was really nice out, so I took the liberty of wearing my newest pair of white jeans with a chambray shirt. I added my favorite bright pink crossbody bag for a pop of color on an otherwise very neutral outfit.
Let’s talk for a moment about white jeans.
It kills me when I hear women talk about fashion rules and ask questions like “Is it too early for white jeans?” Listen here, there are no rules when it comes to fashion. NONE. Do whatever you want! I wore white jeans this past February because it was slightly warm out (for February) and I felt like white jeans looked the best with the sweater I was wearing. Of course when I wore it out some woman commented “Oh, white jeans before Memorial Day?” To which I simply replied “Yes, I wear what I want.” But, really, I was thinking, “YES, LADY. GET OVER IT.”
I’m not going to go into a rant about how comments like that don’t promote feminism because that really isn’t what my blog is about. But my feelings on fashion rules and thinking that you can’t wear something because it isn’t a certain time of the year, just perpetuates a standard that you have to follow a certain norm in life and you don’t! I know it seems like a small thing and that I’m maybe blowing it out of proportion, but all of those little small things add up to the same big principle of making people think that they have to follow dumb rules in life, like when to wear white denim. So do as you please because…. “those that mind don’t matter, and those that do don’t mind.” lol omg remember when every corny person you knew had that quote in their AOL or AIM profile?! I do! And I had to say it because it is true!!
So anyway now that I’ve covered that topic, let’s get back to my outfit! I really love these white jeans that I’m wearing from Old Navy. I get a new pair of white jeans either every year or every other because even though I bleach them after nearly every time I wear them, they still end up looking dingy after a while. I love the button fly style on this pair and the ankle length. Currently they are $44.99 and Old Navy is offering 20% off of that!
The chambray shirt that I’m wearing I’ve owned for a few years. It’s a classic wardrobe staple and since the Canadian tuxedo isn’t my favorite look, I often pair it with white denim. My neon crossbody bag is from Rebecca Minkoff from 2014! I’m so sad that she doesn’t offer anything similar currently, but I’ve linked a few other neon bags below! My shoes are from Target from two years ago and are the DV line. I love them because they are a great transitional weather shoe – almost a mix between a peep toe bootie and a peep toe mule.
