Hello!

Hope everyone is enjoying 2019 so far! Mine had been pretty status quo but this morning was a little rough. First, a pot holder managed to catch on fire on my stove setting off all my smoke alarms and throwing my daughter into a tizzy over how loud it was. “It’s ok baby, momma just nearly set the whole house on fire! NBD!” lol Then we went to Walgreens for what was to be a quick 5 minute stop (probably a little too close to nap time) and she had a full on meltdown because I forgot her goldfish. She starts screaming “FISH-SHES” and I mean she really wanted to do a full on sprawl on the floor kicking and screaming but I managed to wrestle her into my arms, carry her screaming, find the goldfish in the store’s snack aisle, and luckily she stopped screaming once she could hold the bag, but omg – note to self: NEVER forget the goldfish. lol

So anyway that was my day thus far! Moving on – Today I am posting about some of favorite things that I have been enjoying lately!

  1. Trey Kennedy

I first discovered Trey through Facebook. A video that he posted about “Basic Bros” came up on my news feed because a “facebook friend” had commented on it. I was laying in bed half asleep still scrolling on my phone and decided to stall a little more before actually getting up, so I played the video. And wowwwww, I was dying with laughter!! He really hit the nail on the head with this video making fun of white guys in their 20s. I’ve been out of college for 10 years but I still seriously related to practically every single thing that he said and was giggling away. Once I finished watching that one, I watched several others and quickly became a fan of his. He’s super funny, easy on the eyes ♥, and I LOVE that he is so wholesome! He is Christian and makes it a point to not swear in his videos or be disgusting and honestly, it is SO refreshing to watch!! It seems like no one is like that anymore and that the F word is basically every day lingo for kids so I love seeing someone have tons of fans and not be this way. He has a bunch of videos making fun of “basic” girls and guys, white people, and all the ones of him dancing to make chores fun are hilarious. He’s great and if you want to laugh then search for him on Facebook or YouTube and watch!

  1. Quaker Oatmeal Peanut Butter and Coconut Caramel Flavors

Oatmeal is one of the few healthy food items that I love! I can’t tell you how many times in my life (mostly in college) that I’ve eaten oatmeal for dinner because it’s easy, cheap, and low-calorie. Maybe a year or so ago Quaker was asking customers to submit new flavor requests for oatmeal. I was more than happy to keep submitting my personal favorite flavor, which they haven’t had around in about 15 years, vanilla cinnamon. They marketed this around the time that I was in high school and early college as “Nutrition for Women” and I was totally sold on the flavor alone. Sadly, like all good things it seems, Quaker pulled this item from shelves and I’ve yet to see the flavor again. For years since then the only flavor of oatmeal that I think tastes good is maple brown sugar. That is until very recently when I was browsing the cereal aisle at Target and new oatmeal flavors caught my eye! They offered new Quaker oatmeal in flavors peanut butter & honey and coconut & caramel. I quickly put them in my carriage to purchase, although I actually wasn’t sure about how I felt about coconut caramel being in oatmeal, although I do like both of those flavors.

After taste testing, I found that both are enjoyable but I prefer the coconut & caramel flavor over the peanut butter. The peanut butter one is good but it’s like you took a HUGE scoop of smooth peanut butter and dumped it into your oatmeal. It made the consistency a little thicker and I felt like I needed a large glass of milk to wash it all down. I kept drinking so much water while eating this that I felt SO full after eating it. Which I suppose is a good thing, it definitely kept me feeling full longer than when I eat my usual maple brown sugar.

The coconut caramel was surprisingly delicious. I do get both of those flavors while eating it and I found it be a pleasing taste to my palette without being overly sweet. A+++ to Quaker for FINALLY bringing out some new flavors! Now if only they would bring back my vanilla cinnamon…

  1. Clinique Lip Mask – Pep Start Pout Restoring Night Mask

Whenever I do my Christmas shopping I apply a lot of “one for you, one for me” to my online orders. So when I was browsing Clinique.com on Cyber Monday this lip mask caught my eye because it had really great reviews. I always get really dry lips in the winter and I’m constantly putting on lip balm to fix it. I would say that I have tried every lip balm on the market over the years and in addition to applying Blistex, Chapstick, Eos, etc. all day I also apply a heavy amount of Vaseline every night before I sleep on my lips in hope of smoothing them in my sleep. So I decided to order this lip mask for both of my sisters and myself! It is primarily to be used as a night mask while you sleep but I have been using it in the daytime as well and I love it! I think it has really made my lips less dry and chapped than usual! It’s a thicker consistency almost like using Aquaphor, but it’s not as gooey and I think the color that it leaves is just a very light pink. Every time I would use Aquaphor on my lips I swear they look like a dark red and I hate it! I highly recommend this lip mask if you are like me and get really dry lips in the winter!

Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter Roundels

So I know it’s the new year and I should PROBABLY cut back on my chocolate intake, BUT I must make an exception for these delicious little treats. PLUS they were a Christmas gift from my Dad and stepmom and it would really be RUDE to not enjoy every item that they got me and toss these in the trash. There isn’t a Trader Joe’s close to me (I think the closest is maybe an hour away) but my Dad loves a good jaunt out and about so they go out to eat and stop at Trader Joe’s and picked up this little gem for me! These are sooo yummy and to be honest, I feel like they are healthier than Reese’s because they are TJ’s brand. I have no idea if they are because I dislike looking at nutrition labels to see what kind of garbage I’m actually putting in my body! Ok, I just looked and eeek 150 calories per round! Guess I better stick to eating one every other day! I love how they gave a mix of both milk and dark chocolate. I prefer dark chocolate over milk but they are both so good. A definite must have for any chocolate peanut butter lover!!

  1. Floribama Shore

One of my most favorite ways to decompress is to watch television. I just think it’s the best entertainment! I typically watch trashy reality shows because I think it’s great to get lost and forget all your personal problems and laugh at someone else’s for an hour! However, I’m not a total airhead, also enjoy documentaries and Dateline! My latest favorite trashy program is Floribama Shore. It’s on MTV and it’s their new version of Jersey Shore which, of course, was such GREAT television roughly 7-8 years ago. (Side note: the new Jersey Shore reboot is so AWFUL that I stopped watching – anyone else agree? I forced myself to watch the first season of it and I couldn’t even start watching this past season of them in Las Vegas, it just seems that they should all move on with their lives. Mike “The Situation” just eating everything in sight is NOT good TV.) Anyway, Floribama Shore is on their second season and it is surprisingly nearly as good as the first season. These shows are usually only good for the first few seasons because all of the cast starts getting famous and big heads and then they are basically just trying to create drama for the show instead of it being real. MTV did a pretty good job with the cast, it’s a solid mix of personalities and overall I would say they all are very likable people. Some of them are sooo out there crazy, but it makes for such good entertainment! My favorites are probably Kortni and Codi. They both bring a lot to the show -Kortni because she is so wild and crazy and Codi because he gives the best confessionals and is just funny! Check out this show if you want to have a few laughs!

That’s all for now. Let me know what you think of my favorites!

  1. I’m definitely going to check out Trey Kennedy – I totally agree that most comedy is way too vulgar.

I wonder if you could recreate your fave oatmeal with plain oatmeal to start, then add some vanilla extract and cinnamon? Or Penzey’s spices makes a nice vanilla sugar I like in coffee or over strawberries!

You would definitely like Trey! Even Mom told me that she liked him! 🙂

Thanks for the suggestions on the oatmeal. I will have to look for that vanilla sugar!
