Good Morning!
I hope everyone had a nice weekend! 🙂
Today I am doing a quick post to go a little more in depth on a few things that I posted to my Instagram stories in the past week that I got a few questions and comments about. Also, since not everyone has Instagram or goes on often enough to catch every single story, I figured this would be a good Instagram roundup!
First, I posted an OOTD pic last week and got a few questions about the top I was wearing.
Here is the OOTD:
My top is J.Crew from last year. They had it available in several colors and I purchased it in black and white. The white is sold out, but they still have it in black on clearance here!
However, sizes are very limited! Your size may pop back up though, so it’s worth checking!
I did look for something similar on their website this season and found this blouse:
The material is very similar to the top that I’m wearing, which is their 365 crepe fabric that is wrinkle resistant and looks a little more polished than regular cotton top. It also comes in five different colors, so if you are tired of neutrals they have a few colors that really pop!
If you were looking for the wrap style, then I also found this wrap top from Madewell at Nordstrom.com that looks really similar!
It also comes in black and a purple-ish shade!
And Gap also has a wrap blouse in black:
The wrap style is great, since it is very flattering as it cinches your waist and gives an hourglass illusion. And it never goes out of style!
I think all three options are good alternatives!
Easy Crockpot Meal!
On Friday I posted to my stories that I had threw in a pot roast and potatoes into my crockpot in the morning. I got a few comments and questions about what I made so I wanted to share it on here because it is super easy and good!
Ingredients:
Pot Roast
Red Potatoes (cut up & quartered)
1½ packets onion soup mix
Quick backstory:
So originally I was just going to make 5 lb. of red potatoes mixed with onion soup mix in a crockpot for my daughter’s birthday party because we were planning a brunch menu and that would be the home fries.
But then, the weather looked awful so we did a last minute venue change and with that we needed to change the menu.
The day before I had actually picked up a pot roast at the store because chuck roast was on special. I decided I would just put the roast in with the potatoes in the crockpot because I assumed if the potatoes would be good, then so would a whole roast.
Directions:
First thing in the morning, I lightly season the roast with salt and pepper then added to the crockpot. Next, I cut the red potatoes into quarters and added to the crockpot. Then I added a packet and a half of onion soup. I mixed it around a little, then put the lid on, set the temperature to low and let it cook for 9 hours.
That’s it!
After 9 hours the roast had fallen apart! 😋
This meal was so good and easy! The onion soup mix adds so much flavor that nothing else needs to be added!
A few other tips:
1. I did not add any water to the crockpot. The meat releases water as it cooks, so no added water is needed.
2. Depending on the size of your roast, the amount of onion flavoring to add can vary. I love onion flavor and my roast was about 4 lb. so I just decided to add another half a packet to make an extra bold flavor, and it didn’t disappoint. A smaller roast could definitely just use one packet of seasoning.
3. If you want to add something else, try it! I was thinking that had I had it in my house, I would have also dumped in some baby carrots and it would have probably been a welcome addition to get in some extra veggies!
So the next time you are thinking about making dinner and want something easy and delicious, then think of your trusty crockpot and try this!
I’ve made plenty of other roasts and followed other recipes adding in a bunch of seasonings and this is much easier and tastes just as good, if not better!
Delicious Foods You Should Try!
I talked previously about my trip to Trader Joe’s in my last seasonal food reviews. However, I didn’t mention that I had picked up a couple of other foods from there to try.
They were:
Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese
So good, even the pickiest of eaters would enjoy how creamy and rich this is! You cannot tell that there is squash in this at all! Kids will wolf this down for sure.
Bon Bons!
OMG When I spotted this in the store it was like God had answered my prayers! 😂 After all my yapping about missing Bon Bons and then WOW – there they are in the frozen food section at Trader Joe’s! 😊
These are extra delightful because not only are they little vanilla ice cream balls dipped in decadent chocolate, BUT they added a lovely addition of a chocolate cookie crumb bottom!! SO GOOD. I sat around in my leopard print snuggie one rainy afternoon munching on a few of these Bons and Bons and I gotta say, life really doesn’t get much than that! It was heavenly!!
Beef Shepherd’s Pie
I picked this up because I love Shepherd’s Pie on a cold night. BUT it’s a lot of work and I was hoping that maybe this frozen entree would work in a pinch when you are looking for comfort food, but don’t have the time or patience to make a big meal.
Well, I’m happy to report that this little frozen meal was delightful! So flavorful and really hit the spot. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did, but it was quite tasty and the mix of vegetables with the beef was really good!
So there you have it! If you are lucky enough to live near a TJ’s or make a trek to one every so often like me, then I would really encourage you to try these frozen foods!
That’s all for today!
I hope y’all have a great day!
