I hope everyone had a splendid Christmas!! I am just popping in today to do a quick post of a few of my favorites from the Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale! Soooooo many good items on sale! Simply click on the picture to be rerouted to the item details. Prices go back up on 1/2! So enjoy the holiday and go shopping! 🙂
I hope everyone has had a great work week so far and now it’s almost the weekend!
Today I want to discuss the importance of festive outfits. Lately, I’ve been trying to wear all of my clothes that scream holiday in order to get the most use out of them. This means I am either wearing red, green, some plaid print, something sparkly, or a combination of them all! I’ve especially been applying this to my work wardrobe and literally everyday I hear a comment of how “festive” I look which I totally love since that is the whole look I’m going for! I don’t think there is a limit during the holidays of how much plaid or sequins someone should wear. Pile it on and do whatever you want!
The holidays are in full swing which means lots of fun attire featuring plaids, patterns, & sequins! I wear a ton of plaid around this time of the year and today I am sharing how to wear a festive plaid tunic from day to night. This time of year there are so many work events and parties and often there is not enough time to do a full outfit change from work clothes to party clothes. So today I am also showing how a few quick changes to your outfit can take you from the office to the party easily!
I hope everyone had a great week! I was meaning to post this a few days ago but fell down a giant black hole while online shopping. Cyber Monday killed it this year!! The sales were unreal!
I actually wore this outfit last weekend and wanted to share it since a few pieces of it are on sale and it’s a great casual weekend look! I actually switched out of the boots and into my sneaker wedges before going out for a quick dinner and that also worked!
Happy Monday! Back to the grind…but at least it’s a short week with Turkey Day in between! 🙂
Today I’m sharing an athleisure look which I love because it takes me back a bit to my tween days when I was somewhat of a tomboy! ♥ Sporty Spice was my favorite. I really appreciated her aesthetic of swishy pants, crop tops, and high ponytails. I also loved that she rocked a gold tooth! Not many can pull that look off.
So, I wore this look over the weekend to run a few errands and then I just took off the hat, brushed my hair, and went out to dinner! I also feel like I look like I could hit the slopes in this ensemble. Or, most likely in my case, walk to the lodge to get some hot cocoa. 😉
Today I am posting an OOTD (outfit of the day) detailing an outfit I wore over the weekend. I love dressing in layers and wore this out Saturday afternoon for a little shopping!
The hat, scarf, and sweater I just ordered last weekend during their friends & family sale and I really like all three items! The scarf is exactly what I was hoping it would be – festive & cozy! Old Navy has a similar one that I was eyeing but I decided to go with the Gap one because I didn’t really want or need another blanket scarf and this one is large but not overly large and the material is a little thinner and not as bulky as the ON version. The sweater is your basic winter sweater with a medium weight material that is perfect for layering.. I definitely wouldn’t pay full price for it but luckily Gap is always running sales so anytime you can snag it for 30% – 50% off, it’s definitely a worthwhile purchase. The hat is a great beanies at a low price and very warm!
My Brahmin bag is one of my latest purchases and I loooove it. It is really large, which is perfect for someone like myself who literally carries everything. I’m that person that everyone asks if I have a Tide pen, floss, pain reliever, etc. you name it and I usually have it. I hate needing to stop at CVS for anything and prefer to just lug around a 15 pound bag at all times! haha. The bag color is a little darker than what it appears in these photos, it’s not white, more of an off white, but it goes with everything and I like that it’s different from your basic black tote, but still very neutral. Inside it comes with a large, removable pouch and has a metallic tassel adorning it on the outside. It is an unlined tote, but the interior color is a gorgeous metallic light gold that is so pretty, especially for the holiday season. Love this tote and it is also available in black!
That’s all for today! If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments! 🙂
Today I am back with a new shoe review! I am reviewing a splurge vs. save shoe. The splurge being Steve Madden’s Feather Loafers and the save being Target’s Micah Point Toe Loafers.
I love a good pair of loafers because they are typically comfortable and chic looking. I ordered the Steve Madden Feather Loafer in camel first. These retail for $69.95 and I have yet to find them cheaper anywhere. I have actually been eyeing the Steve Madden Feather Loafer in leopard for quite sometime, but am kind of annoyed that they are $20 more than the other colors (I suppose because they are hair-on as opposed to suede.) I didn’t order the leopard ones because I wanted to compare to the Target shoe exactly. Target does offer a leopard pair, but they were sold out in my size at the time. Therefore, I ordered the camel colored suede pair in a size 8.
Overall, I really loved this shoe! It’s very comfortable and super cute. The camel color is gorgeous and a true neutral that you could wear with everything. The suede felt very nice to the touch and I really loved the pointy toe look as I find it most flattering to my feet! They fit my feet, but are a smidge tight so I plan on ordering them in a 8.5 to see if that is a better fit. A day after I ordered the camel ones I decided I really loved the plaid ones and ordered those in an 8 as well. The black plaid ones are so are adorable – especially for the holiday season! They actually fit a little less tight than the camel colored ones but I still think an 8.5 would fit better. I would recommend ordering a ½ size up or order two different sizes to be sure you have the right fit. I really love this shoe and hope to find it on sale or to scoop it up during Black Friday or Cyber Monday in an 8.5!
Moving on to the Target loafers. They are part of Target’s A New Day line which has some really great pieces very similar to items you find at Madewell or J.Crew. I was really excited to find that they had knockoff Steve Madden loafers at a fraction of the price. These retail for $22.99 which is so cheap! I ordered these in the tan color in a size 8.5, as 8 was unavailable at the time.
I wish I could say that I loved them, but I really didn’t! They do look very similar in color and shape to the Steve Madden version, so that’s a definite plus. Since I had to order these in an 8.5, they were too big, but I don’t think an 8 would fit me well either because they were so wide. I ordered the regular version, although they are offered in wide. I double checked my order and the shoe box and I definitely received the regular version of these loafers, so I suppose they just run wide? I feel like if someone has a wide foot then these would be a dream shoe as they look nearly identical to the Steve Madden version. I would say the material looked exactly the same, but upon feeling them that the Target suede was not quite as smooth as the Steve Madden suede. In addition, the bottom sole of the Steve Madden shoe had better grips than the Target shoes. All and all, these were really minimal differences and if these work on your feet then get them fast because you cannot beat the price! *Just a side note that these are sold out in a few sizes and colors online but you can email sign up to get alerted for when they are back in stock!
Here are a couple of additional pics of them showing how similar looking they are!
So I just wanted to do a quick post about H&M. When I lived and worked in Boston I would shop at the huge H&M at Downtown Crossing all the time. It was such a good place for work clothes at low prices! I also got some great deals on coats and shoes too!
I initially went over to their website looking for cute winter coats at reasonable prices. I quickly discovered that not only did they have several great looking coats at cheap prices BUT they also had tons of other good stuff too! I placed an order and received a few items yesterday that I LOVE. I only placed this order last week, but a lot of items seem to be selling out quickly so I wanted to do a post about them before they are all gone!
I rarely set foot inside a mall because online shopping is so gosh darn convenient. I really should have in this case because H&M is the type of store that you usually need to try on the clothing or see it in person to know if you really like it or not, because the pictures can be deceiving. However, their website offers free shipping over $40 and since my cart was over that amount, I decided to order and return in store if I need to. I was unsure of sizing so I ordered multiple sizes in a couple of items. Good thing too, because a few days later I received an email from a customer service rep alerting me that they had some sort of warehouse glitch and that I may receive some incorrect sizes in my order. 🙁 To make up for the inconvenience, they did email a 15% off code with free shipping no minimum. Which I just used to order a couple of more items!
And now onto my findings!
First, a little back story. Let’s back up to July when all of blog land was abuzz with the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. One item I was DYING to get my hands on during the sale were these simple looking camisoles by BP., which is a Nordstrom exclusive brand. Sadly, they sold out pretty much immediately and never came back in stock. I eventually tracked one down in a not so pretty pink color but I returned it because I really hated the color on myself. They do still have it in a couple of prints on major sale now – you can view them here. They never came back in stock in basic colors and I have been trying ever since then to find a similar item at a reasonable price. I never could quite find the same thing until NOW at H&M!
You would think a lace trim camisole would be an easy item to find. But no, somehow it wasn’t. That’s why I was so happy to find these at H&M. In leopard print, too! Plus, it is even a couple of dollars cheaper than when the Nordstrom one was on sale. I ordered this is in leopard and in a couple of different sizes. Out of the ones I tried, the size 4 fit me the best. It is meant to be a looser fit and the straps are adjustable. I placed my second order for it in black and white yesterday! It is also available in a few other different colors and prints.
Obviously not great picture quality – me in my closet! But here is the leopard cami on. The material is satin and lace so it looks a little more polished than your average cami. It’s perfect for work underneath a cardigan and great for going out for drinks too!
The second item I ordered was this Plaid Blazer. I had been wanting a plaid blazer and was eyeing a few at J.Crew (like this one) but they are so expensive. I know I will only wear it a few times so I don’t really want to dish out a ton of money on it. Enter H&M and this great little item which is so so similar to the J.Crew blazer!
I ordered the one of the left which is a black and white checkered pattern with a little burnt orange color mixed in. It’s really the perfect fall blazer and at such a great price! I ordered this in a 4, but the customer service email was correct, because I received a 2. It fits, but I would probably prefer a 4, because is a little tight across my back. I am normally a 6 at H&M, but I ordered down a size because I could tell this was a relaxed fit and I wanted it to be a little more tailored. A few of the sizes are sold out, but all of the sizes are available in the one on the right which is a classic black and white plaid pattern. It’s also available in a a bunch of solid colors.
Me in my closet again and up close to see the pattern better.
The last item I ordered is this leopard blouse! I’m sure you know by now how much I love leopard print and this wrap blouse caught my eye. I ordered it in a 4 and it’s the perfect fit. A 6 would definitely fit but it would be a little too big in the chest. This is a wrap style, but it’s also sewn together at the other side, so I can’t wrap it tighter to fix any gaps in the chest area.
It’s a little on the pricey side for H&M, but the material and quality seem really good and it’s nice to own a dressier style blouse in such a fun print! MeOW
The only other color it comes in is blue which is too bad. I think black would be a nice option, but no such luck.
I mentioned earlier that I initially went on their website looking for coats and they have some really cute ones! I love this pile-lined parka and padded parka! The pile lined one is only $59.99 and looks so cozy and warm. I used to buy coats from them frequently and they always lasted a few seasons. I definitely feel that they offer good quality items, especially for how low their prices are.
That’s all for today! Hope you enjoyed my findings and check out H&M! Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
Big news over in Old Navy Land! Today and tomorrow they are offering 50% off for their friends & family sale! You either need a unique coupon code or use your Gap/Old Navy/Banana Republic credit card (code: CARD).
I have rounded up my favorites below! All prices listed are after the 50% off promo!
I own this dress and it’s such a great black dress to have in your closet because you never know when you will need a classic black dress! It’s good quality and for $20 you cannot beat the price! Also available in red.
Because is Christmas really Christmas without plastering corny seasonal messages all over yourself? The very merry one and home for the holiyays are my faves!
Sometimes items like these are iffy because you are unsure how the glitter will translate in real life. Will it look cheap or cheesy? The reviews thus far for this one are all 5 star and for $10 that’s a chance that I’m willing to risk!
These hats are flattering on everyone and another great gift as well!
There are also a few pieces still available from my Most Wanted Old Navy post a little while back. You can view those items here. The black pull on jeggings are THE BEST!
